DACmini CX's stock configuration is fine-tuned to be perfect for most users' needs. However, not everyone wants a stock version. Custom mods are a convenient, inexpensive way to add flair and differentiation to your product. We believe in flexibility and offer these mods to match the needs of many different customers.


		"Black Anodized, Scratch-Resistant" Mod
		DACmini CX stock unit comes in an attractive, silver-colored aluminum chassis. However some users prefer their stereo components to be black. This mod changes the exterior color to black and includes an additional layer of scratch-resistant surface coating.
Tip: Change the chassis color to match other equipment on your desktop or in your audio rack. Scratch-resistant coating offers extra protection for your audio investment.


		"Headphone Linearity" Mod (1 Ohm output)
		DACmini CX stock unit comes with 10 Ohm headphone output impedance. To our ears, it offers the most musical, transparent sound. Users have described it as "warm" and "analog-like". However we can lower the output impedance to 1 Ohm, if flattest possible frequency response is desired in your application. Customers have described the sound of this mod as "more clinical".
Tip: Use this mod to get the best out of low-impedance headphones.


		"Rock and Roll Gain" mod (Gain of 10)
		DACmini CX stock unit comes with gain of 8 at the headphone output. This is plenty loud for most headphones and listeners. Yet, in some cases we have had users request an even louder output. This mod raises the gain to rock-n-roll levels. It's loud. Be careful with those ears!
Tip: Use this mod with hard-to-drive headphones, such as high-impedance and planar electrostatic models.


		"Variable Output" mod
		DACmini CX stock unit comes with fixed output level at the RCA jacks. When you rotate DACmini's volume knob the level at the RCA jacks is unchanged. This is how a DAC normally operates and this works great if you are feeding an external amp which has its own volume control. The Variable Output mod allows you to control the levels at the RCA jacks with the DACmini volume knob. This is how a preamp normally operates.
Tip: Use to adjust the volume of external powered speakers with the DACmini volume control knob, at the same time as you control the headphone volume.


		"Always On" mod
		DACmini CX stock unit comes with a convenient feature that automatically mutes the RCA outputs when you plug in headphones. Some customers requested that the RCAs stay on at all times and that's what this mod is for. Just like the name suggests, the RCA outputs will not mute when you plug in your headphones.
Tip: Use this mod if you are planning to listen to the headphone output and line output simultaneously.
